Eject USB Storage Drive in Windows®

When you are removing your USB storage drive from your computer, we recommend that you follow the steps below. This procedure will help reduce the chance of corrupting your data.

  1. Make sure that all files and folders that you opened from your drive are closed.
  2. Make sure any software that the drive is running is shut down.
  3. Then you can click on the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon (Green Arrow in older Windows versions) in the System Tray at the bottom right hand corner of the screen to safely remove hardware.
