Despite the compatibility checker claiming this wouldn't work in my Dell Inspiron 580 desktop (Core i3 540 3GHz), and Dell themselves claiming the desktop has a maximum of 8GB RAM, I found reports online that it works up to 16GB RAM so I took a chance with this RAM and guess what? IT WORKS! The system originally came with 4 1GB sticks, so I removed the pair in Slot 1 and Slot 3 and installed these. Now I have 10GB RAM! (4 + 4 + 2 + 2). System is working perfectly for the last week and gave good results in PassMark PerformanceTest 7.0.

VERY cool black anodized aluminum heat sinks on this DRAM.. Very nice quality at a rock bottom price! You'd be a fool to buy anything less.

The chipset reports the processor to be a AMD Phenom II X4 B60 when in fact it is a AMD Athlon II X3 460. Research online yields reports that AMD locked/ removed the fourth core on Phenom II X4's if during manufacturer testing they were sub par and then selling them as Athlon II X3 460 . The bios report the motherboard to only have 4gb memory when in fact 8gb are installed. I have checked in the bios and the motherboard does not provide a setting to adjust this. I have also installed re-installed the memory as well as reset the CMOS. The AMD Chipset requires DDR3-1333 NOT the DDR3 1600 Crucial online system scan it says I need.

    Comments about Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 UDIMM:

My recent product purchase (Ballistix memory for an HP workstation) like all other products I have purchased for myself or on behalf of my clients have always been correct and worked great; that includes SSD's and memory products. Delivery is always better than expected and packaging is excellent. It is a top company in customer service which is always courteous and very easy to work with. I have been known to make a mistake in ordering (i.e. the customer is not always right) and Crucial makes order rectification easy. A terrific corporation!
