In order to use 2GB modules an updated Memory Riser Card is required. Memory Riser Cards need to be installed in pairs.Memory banks must be populated sequentially, there can be no empty banks between populated banks. If you are using different size memory modules, the memory banks must be populated with the highest capacity parts first then the lower capacity parts next.Install in matched sets of 4 modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.
