P1 SSD Disappears from System
If your Crucial P1® SSD keeps dropping out of your system when in use or when coming out of sleep mode, we have a couple of solutions for you. These issues typically can be corrected by changing how Windows® manages power to your drive.
The first step is to stop Windows from abruptly cutting power to your drive. Here is how.
- Go to Control Panel
- Go to Hardware and Sound
- Go to Power Options
- Select Change Plan Settings
- Select Change Advanced Settings
- Make sure the “Link State Power Management®” under the “PCI Express” field is set to “Off”
Once the Link State Power Management as been turned off, you will want to check if you are running Intel Rapid Storage Technology®. An easy want to find out is by checking your taskbar for the icon circled in red.
If you do not have this icon in your taskbar, then the steps that follow can be ignored and the issues that you were experiencing should be corrected. If you see the icon in your taskbar, you will want to double click and open the program. You can then select the performance tab and will see an option called link power management®.
You will want to ensure this is disabled and close out of the program. The issues you were experiencing should now be fixed. If you continue to experience any problems, we ask that you contact us directly for additional support.
