Even if you’ve never installed an SSD, don’t sweat it – our step-by-step guide walks you through the process to make installation easy. It’s worth it.

    Fly through everything you do

Start your system in seconds, load files almost instantly, and accelerate the most demanding applications with the Crucial MX500. Our Dynamic Write Acceleration technology uses an adaptable pool of high-speed, single- level cell flash memory to generate blistering speeds.

Store up to 2TB of data

Save massive amounts of photos, music, and videos comfortably and securely. With fast access to your media, creations, and designs, you’re ready to share at the speed of your life.

Enjoy the efficiency of next-gen Micron ® 3D NAND

Our cutting-edge components are engineered from start to finish for efficiency. As a result, the Crucial MX500 uses only a minimal amount of power and still delivers a high price-to-performance ratio – without needing a financing plan to pay for it. Experience a faster, cooler, and quieter computer in your home or business. You’ll wonder how you ever put up with a hard drive.

Upgrade with a drive you can count on

With thousands of hours of pre-release validation, dozens of SSD qualification tests, and a heritage of award- winning SSDs, the Crucial MX500 has been thoroughly tried, tested, and proven. Secure your most important files on a drive with established dependability and these advanced features.

    1. Hardware-based encryption: Keep personal files and confidential data restricted from hackers and thieves with AES 256-bit encryption that meets all industry standards, including Microsoft ® eDrive, IEEE- 1667, and TCG Opal 2.0.
    2. Integrated Power Loss Immunity: Avoid unintended data loss when the power unexpectedly goes out. This built-in feature of our new NAND protects your data swiftly and efficiently, so if your system suddenly shuts down, you keep all your saved work.
    3. Exclusive Data Defense: Prevent your photos, music, videos, and other files from becoming corrupted and unusable with layers of error correction and adaptive read technology.
    4. Redundant Array of Independent NAND: Protect your data at the component level with an SSD that automatically provides parity protection for your data. This high-end feature works similarly to how RAID is used with multiple hard drives and maintains the integrity of your data, especially for intense users.
    5. Built-in durability: Because SSDs don’t use moving parts that wear out over time (unlike hard drives), your files are less susceptible to a crash. SSDs are better equipped to survive physical trauma, like getting dropped, because they don’t rely on mechanical parts.

    Install with confidence

For many people, opening a computer and transferring data seems terrifying. That’s why we’ve made it easy in the step-by-step Crucial SSD Install Guide. Check it out before you buy, then install your own SSD quickly with everything transferred over successfully and hassle-free.

Micron ® quality – a higher level of reliability.

As a brand of Micron, one of the largest flash storage manufacturers in the world, the Crucial MX500 is backed by the same quality and engineering innovation that has produced some of the world’s most advanced memory and storage technologies for more than 35 years. Split-second speeds, lasting reliability, and a decades-long legacy – upgrading with the Crucial MX500 gives you the best combination of quality, performance, and security. It’s worth it.

Note: 1TB = 1 billion bytes. Actual useable capacity may vary.

It was easy to install, if you have the right tools. Most of the tools are because different computers use different screw heads to install/uninstall retaining screws. It is not because special screws are needed for the drive itself. I used a copy of CClean to format the drive, and then used Disk Utilities on my MacBook (late 2008) to clone over the drives from the original. It changed my load times from 1:32 to :29 seconds. I tried to install 16Gb of ram that seemed to match perfectly, but a bottleneck seems to cause a memory conflict, so I will go with 8Gb like in the YouTube videos.

I also installed one of these drives in my Desktop PC at home. My load times were a good 2 minutes for some of the larger games, but with this, I was able to get that down to about 45 seconds. I still have an original BX300? as my boot drive that I installed when I built my PC back in 2012.

I attempted to install this into my Dell Inspiron 13, 5000 series and since this unit doesn't have but one SATA header, I tried to install with a USB adapter. I followed Crucial instructions and downloaded the software to clone the drive from Crucial site but the SSD couldn't be seen. Tech support sent me a link to an exe that got around that issue, but when I tried to clone, the internal drive was reporting a different sector count than the USB attached SSD.

I ended up pulling my laptop drive out, and hooking it and the SSD up to SATA connectors on a tower PC I had. I had to download the Crucial software to clone the drive as several others I tried just wouldn't let the SSD boot on the laptop. After several hours I finally got a good load and boot.

The performance of the SSD is great as compared to the spinning drive that it replaced. I love the quick boot up time of SSD.

Comments about Crucial MX500 500GB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD:

A super easy upgrade for my ASUS U56E. Everything I needed to do the upgrade was in the box, including the spacer, SSD, and instructions. Needed to buy the SATA to USB adapter to do the data transfer, which worked extremely well. Machine now runs super fast, boots in a 1/4 of the time (less than 10 secs) (Windows 10)

Great product! I recently decided to upgrade my old hard drive and found this website, and I'm glad i did! Crucial made it super simple with the upgrade kit (sold separately) and downloaded software. They walked me through the entire process step by step, and even had live support on standby in case something went wrong. I will definitely be returning for all my future ssd needs, and I'm bringing all my friends with me. Thanks Crucial for a fantastic customer experience!

This SSD decreased boot and access time. My second SSD from Crucial and should I ever need another - I know just where to go. The adapter made it super simple to install in the tower case.

Drive works great and was a perfect fit with included adapter. Significant speed increase, as expected, over oem 5400rpm drive. Followed guide online about Mac mini upgrade, not too bad for anyone who's got some patience and a touch of experience with pc hardware. Overall very pleased with product

I purchased this product to replace a 5+ year old hard drive that is used in a Linux Desktop. Very easy hardware install and BIOS had no problem recognizing the drive. I did a full install of PC Linux OSand the installer had no issues partitioning or formatting drive and installing OS. Once install completed, copying fikles from old drive to new SSD was pretty simple and quick. Overall, it took about 3 hours from opening case to install SSD into drive bay through OS install and completion of copying files from old drive to new SSD.
