†1 GB = 1 billion bytes. Actual usable capacity may vary.

Micron® Quality - As a brand of Micron, one of the largest NAND manufacturers in the world, Crucial SSDs are designed and developed in-house with the latest technology. This means four things: hundreds of SSD qualification tests, over a thousand hours of prerelease validation testing, 1.5 billion dollars invested in R&D, and more than 30 years of industry expertise.

Adaptive Thermal Protection - Greater thermal management enables the Crucial M500 to work with the host computer to dynamically adjust power consumption based on usage demands, which helps address the cooling challenges of ultra-small, thermally constrained systems.

Hardware Data Encryption - The Crucial M500 SSD offers top-level hardware-based encryption, enabling enhanced data security. Our AES 256-bit hardware encryption engine and TCG Opal 2.0 compliant firmware allow the drive to operate at full speed without the performance loss that’s typically found in drives that use software-based encryption technology.

Three Year Limited Warranty - From prerelease validation testing to ensure that our SSDs work with the broadest range of chipsets, motherboards, and operating systems to more than a thousand hours of endurance testing, our drives are tested for reliability from start to finish. We proudly offer a three-year limited warranty and award-winning tech support.

I installed the Crucial 120gb SSD in my "custom-built for speed" computer and installed Windows 7, and all my programs and data onto the drive. Works great and no problems so far.

Since defrag is not advisable on an SSD, I disabled defrag and checked that the SSD "Trim" program is running and it was.

I never got to use it, as I started to clone windows 8 and my stuff (small amount) from my acer machine, but realized windows wouldn't fit, so I might use it as a second drive on my other machine. Lesson learned, as the carpenters say "measure twice, cut once".

My first experience with SSD. I bought the 120GB model. I had an old 15" Macbook Pro late 2008 from someone who had left the company. As with all Macs (just my experience) disk access is pretty slow, even worse with such an old computer. Popped in the SSD and did a fresh install of Mavericks. It boots in about 20 seconds and all programs launch pretty much immediately. Wakes up instantly from sleep. So the performance beats our much newer Macbooks with stock drives.

The uses for this computer will be mainly for conference room - showing Powerpoint and Gotomeeting conferences (hooked up to TV). Also have Illustrator and Photoshop installed but will rarely be used. Those launch immediately as well though I am not expecting nor using this computer to manipulate large graphics files. Bridge launches really quickly as well and is nice for viewing thumbnails of graphic files.

I will be looking to upgrade other computers as well. So in summary - money WELL SPENT!

I purchased this 120gb SSD to install in a Samsung N150 Plus netbook that originally came with a 250gb HDD, although I was only using about a fifth of its capacity. This SSD's boot and overall response times were significantly less than the HDD. For the price, you cannot beat this SSD. I would highly recommend getting the optional upgrade kit, as that made cloning my HDD a snap.
