I have an older Macbook Pro (13" Late 2011 edition) that I've started using for digital audio recording at our church. We have a 48-ch digital Presonus board and we use 70+% of those channels most services. Even using the FW connection, I noticed that my CPU cycles were getting way too high and started doing some research.

As originally configured, my MBP had only 4 GB of RAM and a 5400 RPM, 500 Gb HDD. One of the easiest and most cost-effective upgrades, I learned, was to install the MAX memory (16 Gb, 2 - 8 Gb sticks) and I knew I could trust not only what Crucial's website listed as a recommended upgrade but their guarantee as well. My goodness, I wasn't disappointed!

This older MBP has been given new life. With only the recommended memory upgrade, I now have been able to record as many as 42 channels of digital audio, simultaneously. In a month, I will be upgrading to the 512 Gb MX300 SSD, too, in order to eliminate the bottleneck of the HDD's read/write access times. I can't wait to see how well that goes.

Don't give up on that older MacBook Pro. It's a workhorse; you just have to enable it to perform at its best. Crucial's memory upgrades do just that!

I used the lookup tables on the Crucial website to select the correct memory for my MacBook Pro. Matchng memory to the system is tricky, but Crucial is a brand I trust. The memory sticks were easy to install and work perfectly. I will never have memory issues again on the computer.

The only downside was the horrible shipping. It took a total of 11 days and for 8 of those it was lost in the USPS system. 100% Fedex or UPS for me next time.
