Upgrade with a drive you can count on
With thousands of hours of pre-release validation, dozens of SSD qualification tests, and a heritage of award- winning SSDs, the Crucial MX500 has been thoroughly tried, tested, and proven. Secure your most important files on a drive with established dependability and these advanced features.

    1. Hardware-based encryption: Keep personal files and confidential data restricted from hackers and thieves with AES 256-bit encryption that meets all industry standards, including Microsoft® eDrive, IEEE- 1667, and TCG Opal 2.0.
    2. Integrated Power Loss Immunity: Avoid unintended data loss when the power unexpectedly goes out. This built-in feature of our new NAND protects your data swiftly and efficiently, so if your system suddenly shuts down, you keep all your saved work.
    3. Exclusive Data Defense: Prevent your photos, music, videos, and other files from becoming corrupted and unusable with layers of error correction and adaptive read technology.
    4. Redundant Array of Independent NAND: Protect your data at the component level with an SSD that automatically provides parity protection for your data. This high-end feature works similarly to how RAID is used with multiple hard drives and maintains the integrity of your data, especially for intense users.
    5. Built-in durability: Because SSDs don’t use moving parts that wear out over time (unlike hard drives), your files are less susceptible to a crash. SSDs are better equipped to survive physical trauma, like getting dropped, because they don’t rely on mechanical parts.

    Install with confidence
For many people, opening a computer and transferring data seems terrifying. That’s why we’ve made it easy in the step-by-step Crucial SSD Install Guide. Check it out before you buy, then install your own SSD quickly with everything transferred over successfully and hassle-free.

Micron® quality – a higher level of reliability.
As a brand of Micron, one of the largest flash storage manufacturers in the world, the Crucial MX500 is backed by the same quality and engineering innovation that has produced some of the world’s most advanced memory and storage technologies for more than 35 years. Split-second speeds, lasting reliability, and a decades-long legacy – upgrading with the Crucial MX500 gives you the best combination of quality, performance, and security. It’s worth it.

This is my fifth cloning and replacing of a primary drive. Using the Acronis True Image software and the USB to Data transfer cable, I was able to clone a 1 TB drive in about an hour. I leave the old drive in the PC and move the cables to the SSD, turn on, and see that it works perfectly. Note: If the drive has BitLocker activated, it must be decrypted (turned off) before cloning or else the machine will lock up and require the BitLocker key to restart.

About 3 years ago I ordered a new SSD for my Laptop from Crucial. Everything went great and I was totally satisfied. I recently bought another one for a new Laptop and I was somewhat disappointed. Not so much with the products themselves, but the buying experience.

I ordered a new drive and it was listed under my Dell model. But I was not informed that I would need a mounting bracket and a cable. I figured they would have told me I needed something else as I did the system scan and all. Turns out I had a M.2 drive in my laptop and I ordered a 2.5. They don't even sell the cable or bracket. I had to place another order from another vendor to get the job done. Also, they never prompted me that I would need a conversion kit. Luckily the old one I had worked.

My point being, if anyone is listening, the first buying experience i remember being as great. I received everything in one shot. This was a very frustrating experience. I should have been prompted of the format difference in the drives and that I would need a conversion kit. This time I didn't even think about looking at other vendors since my last experience was so good. Next time I will look around.

Wow. Amazing speed when compared with HDD!

Comments about Crucial MX500 1TB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD:

My computer was slowing down considerably over the last few months. I decided to go for the Crucial MX500 and did the cloning but had the Blue Screen of Death every time I started the laptop. I read few of the forums and blogs from different website and finally discovered it was the Intel R that was causing the crash (in the BIOS). Deleted it from Device Manager and let the computer install it after rebooting it twice and cloned the MX500 again and replaced it with HDD. I noticed that I had also lost the audio. I uninstalled the audio from the Device Manager and restarted the computer and all is working fine. The start up time has reduced from 4 minutes to less than 20 seconds. Just amazing!!!

    a no brainer

Comments about Crucial MX500 1TB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD:

I debated whether or not to get a Samsung EVO or the Crucial. Both seem to spec out about the same, but in the end, I decided to go with Crucial. I also have an older OWC brand SSD, but I think the Crucial is the same or better in terms of operating performance.

Since I was adding more RAM at the same time, I wanted them to match as far as the brand goes, which may or may not mean anything or affect the performance in any way, but I did this anyway.

With that in mind, I put a Crucial SSD and Crucial RAM into my 2011 MacBook Pro and 2012 Mac Mini and they are absolutely blazing in performance now. Having an i7 quad core model is a plus as well.

Setting up a clone of your original drive and OS is easy and free with Super Duper. Once the drive is cloned, just boot up with the clone to check it, and then install the new cloned SSD into the computer. This is just about as easy as it gets and most people should be able to do this if theyd just watch a few videos showing how.

I use both Macs primarily for music production, and use the MBPro every weekend to live stream. All I can say is adding an SSD and maxing out the RAM will definitely breath new life into your 'vintage' Mac. The other added benefit is that theres no more whining sound from the old HDD and both machines run much smoother and quieter now.

I received the product but the SATA to USB adapter that I already had did not have the correct pin configuration to fit the new SSD. Had to order the proper cable and will install the new SSD when the cable arrives.

Initially I could not get the computer to recognize the drive. I chatted with a couple of Crucial's technical support people but got nowhere. Finally I found out the Bios had to be updated, after this was accomplished the drive worked like a "dream," virtually every operation was significantly faster!

This SSD is used in my personal laptop. The installation will allow me to continue to use my old standby system for a long time to come. Prior to the installation, the laptop was starting to show its age via the slow speed of operation.
