    204-pin SODIMM

In short, 204-pin small outline dual inline memory modules (SODIMMs) are the form factor used to provide DDR3 memory modules for notebook computers and other small form factor computing platforms.

To use DDR3 memory, your system must have both a 204-pin SODIMM slot and a chipset that supports DDR3 memory. A DDR3 SODIMM will not fit into DDR2 or DDR memory sockets. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool.)

SODIMMs are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs, and the 204-pin SODIMM PCBs are always ~2.6 inches long and are usually around 1.18 inches high (though the heights can vary slightly). They consist of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The number of memory components on a 204-pin SODIMM’s printed circuit board (PCB) can vary, but the PCB will always have 102 pins on the front and the back both, for a total of 204 pins. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide the connection between the memory module and the memory socket.

My old Ultrabook had slowed to a crawl after I upgraded to W10. Since I only had 2 GB as standard, that operating system's high RAM drain meant only a week's general usage would generate enough background dross to make the computer virtually unusable. I resigned myself to buying a new laptop, but decided to try a memory upgrade first instead.
I had no idea what RAM to choose, but the tool that Crucial put on their website helped guide me. Tbh, that's the main reason I went with Crucial!
Changing the RAM was easy - just like the website said it would be. You've got to give the cards a good shove to make sure they're engaged.
Shortly after changing the RAM, I also moved to a SSD. That combination has made by 1st gen Ultrabook with an old-school I-3 processor as fast as I need a PC to be. Everything opens instantly and I don't need to worry about how many Windows the kids have left open in the background. Furthermore, I hadn't run C-Cleaner for a couple of weeks and noticed that I got rid of 2 GB of trash... Previously that would've bricked my PC, but after the upgrades I hadn't even noticed a performance drop.
If you're wondering if this is money well-spent, don't! This has saved me from having to drop $600+ on a new laptop, along with all the file migration woes that entails.

I bought the two 4gb version. I took out the old rams and put the new ones. Only one of them worked. I pulled them again changed the place. Again, only one of them worked. Then, I took one out and tried again to find the working one. Finally, I found the working one. I put one of the old versions and put one of the working ones. So far I didn't have any problem with the working one. The computer is definitely faster. I wish both of would work.

          Comments about Crucial 4GB 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 PC3-14900:

Product is fine, simple memory upgrade. Interesting issue is that it took Crucial two days to get the memory from Idaho to Berkeley, then took the postal service a week to move it the last mile to my home. J.R Simplot might be displeased.
