I have a late 2009 unibody MacBook Pro that was getting unbearably slow when I'd run my Adobe programs (Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator). I still only had the original 2 GB of RAM that shipped with the laptop.

I got a 4 GB stick & now have 5 GB of RAM. My computer runs significantly faster, although I can still notice it lagging when I have all three Adobe programs open. This laptop is not my main work computer. I use it for light freelancing, music listening, movie watching & web browsing. If this were my main computer, it would've been worth upgrading to more memory; but for my purposes, it suits me perfectly.

As far as installation, I just googled a quick video on how to insert the memory (which on my model is easy, took maybe 10 min total to install.) After inserting the stick, I screwed the bottom back in place and booted it right up. There wasn't any further work required for the new hardware. It worked perfectly right from the box.

All in all, I'm very happy with my experience with Crucial & their product works well. (Although I've only had it for 2 weeks now--so I'd be pretty disappointed if it had broken already.)

I've never had a problem with Crucial memory, but the RAM I got this time caused my iMac 27-inch (Late 2009) to behave unreliably. It locked up and crashed the first time I booted up. Then my computer couldn't get past the apple logo screen when I tried to reboot. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting the issue — even trying to reboot from a backup drive. Finally, when I switched back to the old RAM, the computer worked fine. I must have gotten a bad batch.

Side note: During my research troubleshooting the problem, I found out that this particular iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) can be upgraded to 32 GB of RAM (though Crucial can only recommend 16 GB per Apple specs). Do some research if you really want to trick out this computer.

Comments about Crucial 4GB DDR3-1066 SODIMM Memory for Mac:

Needed ram for mac mini. So i upgraded to 4gb stick, as i might want to upgrade with another 4gb stick down the line. Works good. Increased overall ram, and some hiccups that went along with low ram. Easy to install, just see a video.
Price: is a little on the high side. But it comes with limited lifetime warranty? You could fine this cheaper but better to go with a respectable company.

Comments about Crucial 4GB DDR3-1066 SODIMM Memory for Mac:

I bought for of these 4g sticks to upgrade my Late 2009 i7, 27" iMac from 8 to 16 GB. The instructions online were simple and easy to follow. I had no problem removing the old and installing these new chips into the computer. I did however get a little nervous while trying to remove the SODIMM from the plastic package. It was so tight I was sweating bending/breaking the module while trying to remove it. In the end though, all was fine. my computer fired up and recognized the 16 GB right off.

Thanks Crucial. Next step is SSD in place of DVD drive and Fusion Drive.

So glad I purchased extra RAM for my iMac. I recently upgraded to macOS Sierra and found my computer would freeze up and the mouse was very jittery. After installing an additional RAM card (doubling from 4gb to 8gb) I haven't had a single issue.
