Am I actually reading this right that the ASUS Q501LA can only be upgraded to a MAX of 8GB RAM, with only one slot for a module?
I was wanting to put 16GB in it..
I've had my first crash ever today on my system. I've owned my system for 18 months and never had any problems other than an occasional application hang (usually the browser) which could be terminated with the task manager.
However today, I couldn't even shut down my system with the power button and had to pull the plug to power down the system.
Whatever I received is not what is pictured on the amazon web site or what is pictured on the Crucial web site which is pictured below.
The one I received looks more like this.
It looks like I'll be returning it to amazon.
I ran the system scan and got a scan ID of: D982439631D926C3
Looking for a 8GB module. Website shows 2 4gb pieces item number -
however, I am looking at the
BLT8G3D1608ET3LX0, and the BLS8G3D18ADS3
Will these work for my PC?
Given an ECC memory module (e.g. double-sided 2x9 stick with ECC chips), how do you identify whether or not the module is registered vs. non-registered? Memtest86 v3.4 doesn't provide that distinction (that I can tell).
All the chips here are DDR-1. I've got a 1GB ECC non-registered DIMM (as labeled) with 2x 9 chips (dual sided), and no 'extra' chips in the middle whatsoever.
I've also got a variety of DIMMs labeled as registered, 2x 9 dual sided, with the chips in the middle splitting the memory 5-4. But there are generally three chips sometimes the same, other times 2 same, one different. One SimpleTech 1GB ECC module has only two, dissimilar, middle chips.
I'm unclear what to make of this. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for contacting us today. CT2153295 is actually a low density module. CT2153295 is the same module as CT51264BF1339 for the Inspiron N7010. CT51264BF160BJ is a high density module and is not compatible with the system. That's why you are seeing the issues that you are experiencing.
