This review is not of the hard drive because i NEVER received it! I ordered this item over 2 weeks ago and paid for 2 day shipping. Part of my order (RAM) shipped. When I contacted customer service I got every excuse in the book from, "not in stock" to "the item is coming from a different warehouse" to "this item is discontinued". I am very dissatisfied overall of how crucial handled my order and I will be demanding a refund from the money they promptly took as soon as I placed my order. Maybe I should have said my credit card was discontinued or coming from another location to see how they like that. I will never again shop from crucial.com and will be discouraging all of my associates from shopping here as well.
I apologise in advance, as I am not tech savvy, so my terminology might appear a bit agricultural. I plan to upgrade my Mac Pro to the latest OS available. I am currently running the most recent it will take (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) I understand installing more memory is straight forward enough but, what about upgrading the Hardrive? Is there any great advantage in replacing my existing HD with an SSD. I understand that this process is a bit more involved and requires tools and additional 'bits' to make the new SSD compatible with my Mac. I don't want to get all technical and have the fastest 'this' and the biggest 'that', I would just like to update my machiine and future proof it a bit. Any advice would be appreciated

Have you experienced any issues with the SSDs besides this error? This article can help clarify some of the most common misconceptions about SMART data. If you aren't experiencing any issues other than that message I would not worry about it. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
I have a DELL Studio XPS 16 (1645 with intel core i7 cpu), with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit preinstalled and updated to Service Pack 1, and
I recently upgraded my Western Digital HDD to a larger Solid State Crucial M500 480GB drive, (using
the crucial easy laptop install kit).
The laptop boots with the SSD drive now being the only drive installed.
I cloned the HDD, using the automatic procedure in Acronis TrueImage HD using a boot CD, however, the Windows Update in the newly
installed SSD does not function and gives the message "windows update cannot currently check for updates becuase the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer".
I previously tried all other combinations in cloning the HDD to SSD with Acronis TrueImage HD, to no avail.
The computer was checked for viruses and malware prior to the cloning procedure with Bitdefender Antivirus 2013 and is virus free.
Also, internet explorer is not downloading files from hyperlinks. It will display the option for save as, open, save but will
proceed and open the download dialog box when left-mouse-clicking on hyperlinks of files which I choose to download and will not
display the image format jpg when I right-mouse-click on an image link and choose save image as but display the options for png and
bmp only. I installed the Chrome browser which worked, the problem with internet explorer persists.
I give you a link to my windowsupdate.log file,
I consider the windows update malfunction to a be serious problem, thank you in advance for any assistance.
