After seeing this SSD advertised at a very reasonable price for the type of drive, I replaced a failed hard drive on an older 13" Macbook with Intel processor. The drive was replaced in just a few minutes and a clean install of OS 10 Snow Leopard was performed. The user files were then restored from backup. The drive has performed flawlessly and is unbelievably fast compared to the original 120 Gb 5000 RPM HDD. These drives are unquestionably more expensive than a conventional HDD, even one running at 7200 RPM, but the improvement in performance makes them well worth the investment. I've since replaced a fully functional 500 Gb HDD with the 960 Gb SSD. In my MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10 Lion, the improvement in performance is noticable, albeit somewhat less prononced compared to the performance gain in the aforementioned older MacBook. To date, I haven't had one crash or evidence of failure or incompatability. I'm very pleased with the overall performance. I'd likely be just as happy with a larger conventional HDD or a hybrid drive, but I believe the lack of moving parts makes the longevity of this SSD drive more reliable over time (I hope). I look forward to a long productive relationship with my new SSD.

The drive is not too slow and use Micron chip which is good.

1TB SSD drive in my MacBook Pro

      • Primary Drive In Mac Osx

I doubled the capacity of my MacBook Pro with this. Installing the crucial drive was really simple and straight forward. I moved my original drive into the slot where my DVD drive was and that was really hard. The screws for that were very tiny. All in all, it was worth it. The performance gains in how quickly the laptop boots and how responsive the applications are is great.

I always have multiple programmes open all the time, the response on this hard drive is insane, super quick, previous was a 500gb standard mac drive and the difference is pretty significant
this is a great mid point upgrade for any mac user, i actually bought my wife a 240gb for her old 2008 mac book and there's an even bigger difference there
and for the price its a no brainer!

I bought this drive to replace my Crucial 512GB m4 - a drive I bought when I first got my MacBook Pro in 2012. I needed the extra space and deliberated between the Samsung 840 EVO and this drive. I found too many problems with the EVO drive and MacBook Pros so I stayed with Crucial and I am very impressed. Write speeds of about 400 MB/s write and 500 MB/s reads. I really love being able to put more music on my notebook, thanks to the larger drive!!

I have a 2009 24" iMac (iMac 9,1) that used a sata II speed link on the original drive. I knew that, going into the install, I was not going to see anything near sata III speeds. I was pretty surprised at the speed.

I had firmware mu02 during the installation and had an average of 190 MB/s write and 262 Mb/s read.

After the update to Muo3, speed increase went to 194MB/s write and 266 MB/s read.

The update was not too bad, I just wish they had an application for mac to easily convert the update into a software bootable.

The linux references were a pain to deal with and ultimately decided to burn the .iso into a cd.

Great product, price point was awesome at inception. Samsung has a TB ssd, but I still would pick this over the sammy any day!

Gave four out of five for the firmware update, Creating a program to install the bios is not that had to do...

            BTW, Customer service is AWESOME!

Screaming fast speed. My Core i7 gets Windows 7 to the login screen before my external monitors have had a chance to wake with video signal.
VMWare virtual machines boot in a tiny fraction of the time they did with a conventional drive.
The system tray fills up in just a few seconds. This drive is a monster!

I plan on bringing back my large music library, extended photo library plus some video and storing it on this drive. It replaced my primary hard drive on an HP DV7 laptop. This means fewer external drive attachments reducing overall power consumption.
