    200-pin SODIMM

DDR 200-pin SODIMM: Approximately 2.625 in. by 1.25 in. (66.7 mm by 31.75 mm)
     DDR2 200-pin SODIMM" width=
    DDR2 200-pin SODIMM: Approximately 2.625 in. by 1.18 in. (66.7 mm by 30 mm)

A small outline dual inline memory module (SODIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). SODIMMs get their name because they are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a SODIMM are not connected.

200-pin SODIMMs are used to provide DDR and DDR2 SDRAM memory for notebook computers. 200-pin SODIMMs are available in PC2700 DDR SDRAM, PC3200 DDR SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-6400 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-5300 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM and DDR2 PC2-3200 SDRAM. To use DDR or DDR2 memory, your system motherboard must have 200-pin SODIMM slots and a DDR- or DDR2-enabled chipset. A DDR or DDR2 SODIMM will not fit into a standard SDRAM SODIMM socket. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool.)

The number of black components on a 200-pin SODIMM can vary, but it always has 100 pins on the front and 100 pins on the back, for a total of 200. 200-pin SODIMMs are approximately 2.625 inches long and 1.25 inches high, though the heights can vary. Like 144-pin SODIMMs, 200-pin SODIMMs have one small notch within the row of pins; however, the notch on the 200-pin SODIMMs is closer to the left side of the module.

      Comments about Crucial 4GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-5300:

I'm the type of person that has tabs open and I use Chrome. I went from 2GB that was not enough. Then went to 4GB and that was not enough. I have now went to the "max" 6GB and I couldn't be happier. I opened multiple Youtube videos in tabs and it handle it pretty well. My computer didn't make the super long loading noise when it is too much to process. It made the normal short loading noise.

Thank you Crucial! Even though they didn't recommend the the 4GB memory stick for this computer and Apple only recommend the computer can only go up to 4GB... We all know that in can go up to 6GB.

I'm happy. Now I can keep my computer for a longer time. aka Save Money!

      Thank you!

        Comments about Crucial 4GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-5300:

I downloaded an upgrade on my MacBook & had multiple issues afterwards. What I did not realize is that I was maxed out on memory. Crucial was recommended for parts, so I placed my order and the parts came relatively quickly. Easy to install & after re-downloading the upgrade everything is running more smoothly.

Installed in an HP Mobile Workstation. Work in local HDD and also use Remote Desktop to work in server at remote location. Needed to upgrade to 8GB of RAM. Entire process from selecting, ordering, and installing was great.

Finally upgraded my early 2008 MBP from 2gb to 6gb (yes, 6gb works). Immediately noticed a difference, mostly in my browser. No more pinwheels when too many tabs were open or stuttered playback in Hulu. This is with no other upgrades.

My work requires multiple browsers being launched side by side, sometimes with video, requires good, large capacity memory and Crucial has delivered.

Thanks Crucial, once I realized I could bump my RAM beyond factory spec, you helped me to extend the life of our iMac. Now we can use new tools like a drawing tablet, trackpad and have plenty of overhead for a very large music and photo library!
