Q:is there support for Serial Presence Detect (SPD)
A:Serial Presence Detect (SPD) is a memory hardware feature that makes it possible for the computer to know what memory is present, and what timings to use to access the memory.
Q:does this memory module support serial presence detect (SPD)data structure?
A:Yes, this memory kit will be fully compatible with the Optiplex 740.
Q:can i use this memory type for my Dell Dimension 8250 desktop?
A:No, unfortunately not. Your computer uses RDRAM, also known as Rambus(R) memory, on 184-pin RIMMs. Unfortunately, Crucial does not carry RDRAM. For further information on Rambus(R) RDRAM, please visit our FAQs at http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=3531

I am sorry for the issues that you have been experiencing with your new RAM. How much RAM is found when you use our System Scanner. This scanner can be found here. If a module is missing (scanner shows empty slot), it's likely an installation issue. If the modules are half detected by the scanner, it could be a density issue. Please check the scanner and let us know and we can see what other troubleshooting we may be able to try.
got a rare bluescreen 0x0000001a "Memory Management".
My Motherboard is a Gigabyte H97 HD3. (Bios F4)
The Crucial Ram is a 8GB-Kit PC3 - 12800 CL9, 1.5v
I tested both sticks (together) with memtest for 12 passes overnight (0 errors),
Does it make sense to test each on its own ?
