I was advised in HP community forum that the G6 service manual specifies a maximum capacity of 6GB of my laptop model, so only 2 GB to add.

However, your scanner says I can add another 4 GB (8 GB total).
Would you please advise me whether I should trust your scanner results or the offical (generic) G6 service manual?
Thanks for help!
August of 2013, a friend at church gave me this Compaq Presario 2004 desktop computer. He and his wife have moved to Minnesota and I have lost contact so cannot ask them. It only came with 256 Mb and the other slot is empty. A friend in Austrailia (I am in Atlanta, Georgia USA); also has an XP computer desktop but not the same brand. He shipped me 2 x 1 Gig and 2 x 2 Gig memory cards this past Wednesday. Will take 10-12 days to get to me. Do the memory cards have to be specific for my computer or will others work? Can I only put just 256 Mb more in the other slot? I am 64 (almost 65) and have never been inside a computer tower. A friend in my building will put the memory in for me. I am confused on how much Mb is 1 Gig and how much is 2? Here is the scan results for my computer: Crucial USA - scan results
It doesn't look like the precision T7910 has been tested with Crucial memory yet. Any ETA on that? Suggestions on what I could buy now? Looking to drop 768 GB in it.
Thank you for contacting us. It does appear that the two modules are equivalents for one another. I don't forsee any issues if you purchase and use the Micron part.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
I bought a Gateway LT40 Netbook and want to increase the RAM. The computer came with 1GB of RAM and the Crucial scan indicated that I can increase the RAM to 2GB DRAM. I was wondering what would happen if I installed 3GB or 4GB of DRAM? I know that the result would not be good but I am wondering what the unfortunate results would be? Thanks for any and all replies.
