There's an easy cure for a slow computer: more memory. Designed to help your system run faster and smoother, Crucial Laptop Memory is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to improve your system's performance. Load programs faster. Increase responsiveness. Run data-intensive applications with ease, and increase your laptop's multitasking capabilities.
Make everything on your computer faster
Memory is a component in your computer that allows for short-term data access. Since your system's moment-to-moment operations rely on short-term data access – loading applications, browsing the Web or editing a spreadsheet – the speed and amount of memory in your system plays a critical role. Load apps in seconds by increasing the speed of your memory and installing more of it.
Multitask with ease
If you're like us, you use your computer to do lots of things at once. You might be editing a document, while also looking at pictures and browsing the Internet. This naturally leads to a performance problem: every app you're running requires memory and competes for a limited pool of resources. Overcome this by installing high-density modules in each memory slot for seamless multitasking.
Extend battery life
One of the most important aspects of laptop performance is battery life. By upgrading your memory, you can potentially take advantage of lower voltage modules – and increase energy efficiency by up to 40% when using the latest memory technology.1 What's more, by simply installing more memory, you'll reduce the number of times your system has to access the hard drive (paging). Less paging means tasks are done faster – using less battery power.
Install with ease – no computer skills required
With just a screwdriver, your owner's manual, and a few minutes of time, you can install memory – no computer skills necessary. Just watch one of our three-minute install videos, and we'll walk you step-by-step through the process. Don't pay a computer shop to do something you can do in minutes!
Maximize the value of your system
At a fraction of the cost of a new system, a memory upgrade is one of the most affordable ways to increase performance. Get more out of your laptop
by giving it the resources it needs to perform.

This memory upgrade was problem free; easy. It took just one or two minutes to complete the installation. The customer service was excellent; [...] I will buy from them again and I already recommended them to a relative who will procure 4GB from them soon. The improvement of performance is great just going from 3GB to 4GB. I am considering adding a 4GB memory chip stick; but so far my Zino HD (Dell 400) works fast and fine for my multiple program uses. I use Kubuntu (debian based) and Microsoft Windows 7. I some times run Xubuntu which is really fast with this chip set. The installation involves unscrewing two phillips screws underneath the Zino. The cover comes off with the two chips staggered one over the other. I did not need to remove the top chip to lift up and out the bottom chip (new one.) I surf the web, buy stuff online, use emacs, write and read email; but I don't do any gaming. I watched youtube and hulu or it is hula? Both worked great on my Zino. I have an AMD Athlon 3250e processor, ATI Radeon HD 3200 Video Card, 250 GB Hard Drive. I'm delighted with this chip set.

Wanted to upgrade my girlfriend's Toshiba A215-S5837 and went with Crucial - I always do and they've never let me down.
I used the compatibility tool to choose and went with two of these. Old memory was 5300 speed, these are 6400 - but they were supposed to be compatible.
Computer wouldn't boot, no error message - nothing. Put the old memory back in and back to normal. Tried one module at a time, thinking one was possibly bad, no change.
Emailed support and made a few calls (support staff is excellent!) and tried everything they suggested, including BIOS update - no help.
Finally they suggested this test - one old module (known to work) in the A slot and a new module in the B slot. This would force the B slot to run at 5300 as long as it was good (odds of two bad sticks shipping is tiny.)
Jackpot! Booted with no problem and recognized the total 3gb installed when tried with both new modules - indicating the problem is a BIOS / motherboard intolerance for the faster speed.
So they are now going to exchange these two for two 5300 sticks, and I am sure all will be well.
P.S. - they were kind enough to extend the time limit on the exchange despite the fact my girlfriend took the laptop on vacation for two weeks because the site said it was compatible and I had contacted them with the issue. Crucial's support and customer service is #1!
So if you own this machine, be aware the newer faster modules may not work.
I remain a loyal Crucial customer!

Yes, there were no instructions but with YouTube, that was easily solved. Took longer to walk to my car to retrieve the package than to install the memory.

Comments about Crucial 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400:
The star rating should be "three to five stars but otherwise unknown more specifically". Presumably the first hardware step in system performance improvement is to install a substantially larger amount of RAM. In my case, this was to install the maximum 4 GB of RAM in place of 2 GB of RAM on a Gateway E-475M laptop with "Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20 GB" and "Windows 7 Pro, Svc Pack 1" 64-bit operating system.
The system performance may have improved somewhat, but it is still disappointingly slow. However, the RAM replacement was easy and the cost was quite reasonable.
I am contemplating an installation of a Crucial SSD, but I want more assurance that elimination of the HDD seek time will greatly improve performance even though the laptop putatively has a native SATA 2 (3Gb/s) limitation as compared to the Crucial SSD's limitation of SATA 3 (6.0Gb/s). An SSD installation on another laptop did in fact greatly improve performance, but in that case both the native laptop limitation and the Crucial SSD are rated at SATA 3 (6.0Gb/s) whereas the HDD that was replaced appears likely to have a rating of SATA 3.0 Bps; thus, the difference in read/write speed apart from seek-time issues could account for a lot of that improved performance, but how much of that improved performance is not clear.
