Comments about Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2) Ballistix 240-pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800:
I had DDR2 Crucial Ballistix memory in my old build. I upgraded my machine a few months ago and bought this RAM kit. I wouldnt buy from any other manufacturer, these sticks are the absolute best!
Fast, cool, and well built. Thats the Crucial way.
Thank you for contacting us today. I pulled up the link to the available upgrades and it appears that the real difference between the parts is the speed.
This part is basic Crucial PC3-12800 RAM. It's going to be the slower upgrade for your system, but would still be a great upgrade for your system.
This memory is basic Crucial PC3-14900 RAM. This is going to be the fastest upgrade for your system.
This part is Ballistix Sport. It has the same speed as the Crucial PC3-12800 RAM, but has an added heat spreader. Our Ballistix line is made for those are heavy computer users, gamers, graphic designers, etc.
This is the Ballistix Sport version of PC3-14900 RAM.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about these different types of RAM. Hopefully this helps clear up the differences
My data report came back as:
System specs as shipped by the manufacturer.
Scan your system to view your specific configuration
Maximum memory: 2048MB
Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1) [240-pin DDR2 DIMM Banking] and 2 (2 banks of 1) [184-pin DIMM Banking]
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.
DDR and DDR2 modules can not be utilized at the same time. Each memory type is supported seperately.
Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.
Problem is, what RAM do I order?
I currently have 3 gigs, so I think I needjust 1 2 gig block to match the other 2 gig, to get the max 4 gig output.
I dont think using the other slot pairing would work.
I am very sorry for the issues that you have experienced with your upgrade. It does appear that you have gone through all the trouble shooting steps we would recommend to perform.
At this point I would recommend contacting us directly using the information in my signature. I am sorry for the inconvenience that this may cause.
Thank you for contacting us today. You should have no issues installing the 1.35v memory with the 1.5v Hynix memory. Our memory is dual voltage and will run at 1.5v if installed with other 1.5v memory. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns about this upgrade.
