Please remove the memory board to upgrade. Once the memory board is removed place it on a flat ESD safe workplace and install the memory there. Installing the memory while the memory board is in the server, may damage the system or memory board.System supports a maximum of 2 IBM memory cards (FC# 4075). DIMMs must be installed in sets of 4 identical modules (or 2 products). Each card holds 16 modules (4 quads). The 6H1 1-way processor card also has 8 slots where memory can be installed in pairs.The number of slots listed reflects the number per memory board. This server supports a maximum of two memory boards.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.
