†1 GB = 1 billion bytes. Actual usable capacity may vary.

Micron® Quality - As a brand of Micron, one of the largest NAND manufacturers in the world, Crucial SSDs are designed and developed in-house with the latest technology. This means four things: hundreds of SSD qualification tests, over a thousand hours of prerelease validation testing, 1.5 billion dollars invested in R&D, and more than 30 years of industry expertise.

Adaptive Thermal Protection - Greater thermal management enables the Crucial M500 to work with the host computer to dynamically adjust power consumption based on usage demands, which helps address the cooling challenges of ultra-small, thermally constrained systems.

Hardware Data Encryption - The Crucial M500 SSD offers top-level hardware-based encryption, enabling enhanced data security. Our AES 256-bit hardware encryption engine and TCG Opal 2.0 compliant firmware allow the drive to operate at full speed without the performance loss that's typically found in drives that use software-based encryption technology.

Three Year Limited Warranty - From prerelease validation testing to ensure that our SSDs work with the broadest range of chipsets, motherboards, and operating systems to more than a thousand hours of endurance testing, our drives are tested for reliability from start to finish. We proudly offer a three-year limited warranty and award-winning tech support.

960GB SSD drive for iMac 24" (early 2009

By Dave

Pros

  • App Loading Time
  • Boot time
  • Readwrite To Disk

Cons

  • Sata To Usb Not Included

Best Uses

As a Mac user I puchased this to replace my iMac 1TB HD, which had begun to slow down signifigantly.
I thought this would be the best option to replace the optical HD.
Well worth it, computer is like a new machine.

One thing, I would note is that the SATA to USB cable should be bought also so you can clone your existing drive to the new SSD drive.
This is a separate purchase and for this price, I feel should be included with the SSD.

      Best Uses

      • Main pc
      • Notebook
      • OS drive
      • Ultrabook

I bought this 960GB drive to replace two SSD's in my main PC rig. The extra capacity of the SSD makes a huge difference to what I can and cannot do with my OS drive. No more having to have a separate SSD for applications and Steam based games.

The size of the SSD makes it perfect for my Ultrabook and as soon as I have enough spare cash I am getting another to upgrade that too.

Speed via benchmarks mean nothing in the real world, all I do is the initial benchmark to ensure that I have the set up correct. Perfect, just as advertised.

      Cons

        Best Uses

I think my Pros probably say it all, but highly recommended. My MacBook Pro has had (many!) issues for a while and they were all down to my old hard drive slowly failing. This has fixed everything and I now have the most powerful MacBook Pro that I have ever owned! Get one, don't wait!
