Memory Type: DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200, DDR (non-ECC)Maximum Memory: 2GB Slots: 2
How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.
Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

Hello!
A friend of mine just built a new computer, using a 2x8gb Crucial Ballistix Sports (1600mhz CL9, BLS2KIT4G3D1339DS1S00) kit.
It's an AMD platform (FX6300, Vishera) with a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-970A-UD3 Rev1.2, F7 Bios).
Unfortunately, the System does not start (black screen, the system fans start, but nothing else happens). With some other no-name RAMs (1333 mhz CL9) the system works just fine. He exchanged the RAM and got a new identical kit, still the same problem. What's odd is that that kit works properly on another similar Gigabyte board (he lent the RAM to a friend with this board) with an even older BIOS version.
As far as i know he has also exchanged the Motherboard (to another version, before he had the GA-970A-DS3 i think) but still the RAM does not work.
He has tried everything to make the RAMs work, tried different slots, only one RAM at one time, single channel/dual channel, nothing works.
It's frustrating, confusing . Does anyone know what might be the problem?
4allmemory didn't have this model, they had the 2b29WM. I bought a 4 GB SODIMM SDRAM
406 pin PC333-10600 by PNY and the computer would not start with it in the machine. HP 2000
NOTEBOOK Product number: C2N25UA#ABA. Shows 2 GB installed 1.6 GB used. I see several
compatible offers on your website. Is there a trick to upgrading this memory or was Geeksquad
wrong to say this computer's memory can't be upgraded? paj692
hi,after a recent memory upgrade recommended by the scanner i have to remove the cmos battery for a few minutes then reset the time etc after every shutdown.ive tried the memories in all configurations...just new one..just old one...both..different order and nothing works except removing the battery.all i get is a no signal message on my monitor...is there a permanent fix for this or is it a faulty memory??..its a 1 gig to 3 gig upgrade.thanks
Will there be a 16 GB (dual-ranked, DDR3) ECC UDIMM? (And if not, why not?)
The currently released Ivy Bridge and Haswell server chips only support UDIMM. Now, 1x16GB RDIMM is available in a few products. But 1x16GB UDIMM seems to not exist. This limits Ivy Bridge and Haswell servers to 32GB, and that's with 2x8 meaning the memory channels must slow down.
