Secure-D Software

Minimum System Requirements:
Windows XP, 2000, ME
One available USB port

NOTE: The Secure-D software is an application that allows you to password-protect secure files on your USB drive. Secure-D allows you to divide your USB drive into two different areas. The public area, which comes up automatically when you insert the USB drive into a USB port on the computer, is accessible by anyone using your drive. The secure area is password-protected and no one can open, copy, or write files to it without entering the password first.

CAUTION: When you use the Secure-D software to create or change the size of the public and secure areas on your USB drive, all of the information on the drive is overwritten. If you plan to use both public and secure areas on your USB drive, you need to install Secure-D and create the areas before you save information on your drive. If you've already saved information on your USB drive and you want to create areas, save the existing contents elsewhere before you create the areas, and then copy the information back onto the drive afterward.

To install Secure-D Software on your computer:

  1. Insert your USB drive into an open USB port on your computer, and open it as you would any new storage device added to your computer.
  2. Open your USB drive using Windows Explorer, and copy the Secure-D file (Gizmo_V26.exe) onto your computer.
  3. TIP: You should always keep a backup copy of the Secure-D file on your computer in case you accidentally delete it from your USB drive.

  4. Locate the Gizmo_V26.exe file on your computer.
  5. Double-click the .EXE file to start the Secure-D software.
  6. Formatting the size of your secure and public areas:
(This process will erase all data on the USB drive.)

  7. Select "Format" and confirm the warning message that data will be lost by selecting "OK" to proceed.
  8. Using the slider bar, adjust the size of your secure area, and then click "OK."
  9. The size of your secure and public areas is now set.
  10. Setting up your password for your secure area:

  11. Double-click the .EXE file to start the Secure-D software.
  12. Select "Password" to enter your desired password (maximum 16 characters) and a reminder in case you forget your password.
  13. Click "Apply." The following message will appear to indicate completion: "Password changed. Device will lock automatically after removal from USB port."

NOTE: You cannot see your secure and public areas at the same time. Once inside your secure area, you must remove and re-insert your USB drive in order to access the public area. The public area automatically appears and is immediately accessible when you insert your USB drive into the USB port.

Your secure area can only be seen if the correct password has been entered to unlock the device.
