Enough memory? More memory gives new life to well-used computer
In short, we were able to go from 92 % used physical memory (1GB) to 54% used physical memory (2GB) to a mere 35% used physical memory with 4GB. That additional free memory allowed us to open additional programs, pictures, music, and more without taxing the HDD (as the computer constantly wrote to the page file). And not only does that mean faster performance, it also produces a lot less wear and tear on that HDD, adding to system longevity.
In the end, a well-loved machine with a full suite of memory, applications and a semi-bloated registry will utilize more memory than its brand-new, clean, factory-loaded counterpart. If your computer just isn't as fast as it was when it was new, add more memory. You will restore it to its original performance levels, even after being used (and abused) by its most fervent users.
