My ASUS 900 HD only came with 512MB so I was really looking forward to upgrading to 2 GB for increased browsing and multiple program performance. I purchased the memory through Amazon and it arrived quickly. Installation was a no-brainer but the computer would not boot. Customer service at Crucial was very friendly and immediately offered to replace the module. [...] It suffered the same problem. I updated my bios upon Crucials instruction but still no-go. The second memory was configured the same as the first so they offered to replace it again with a different configuration.[...] I did have to push the memory in VERY firmly and hold it during the initial booting process but now it is working perfectly. It very well could have been my connector in the computer. In any case, I am now pleased even though I was frustrated during the process.

I purchased this product because is was advertised to be compatible with the Acer AO751h NetBook computer.
When I install this product (2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300) into my Acer NetBook I only got/get a "black" screen. When I reinstall the original 1GB memory module back into the NetBook it boots and work just fine.
The computer never boots past a black screen with the Crucial 2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300. I have installed the latest BIOS that Acer has out but to no avail. The NetBook still will not recognize and boot with the crucial 2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 onboard.

Comments about Crucial 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-5300:

Was easy as can be to install. Made my laptop much faster. It had 512MB sticks x2 in it, i took one out, and put in a 2GB stick, now has 2.5GB installed and 2.3GB is useable. Good price, and it arrived 1 day earlier than was supposed to. Just wich I would have had the money for 2 sticks :) I do plan on getting another 2GB stick when I get the money.

Note: This will fit into a Dell Inspiron 1501, with the updated BIOS, possible to support up to 8GB=4Gbx2(64-bit OS) and 4GB=2Gbx2(32-bit OS)

The only difficulty in installation was opening the memory chip compartment. They were supposed to be Phillips screws, but they were another shape - and I wound up stripping the heads before I got the flap/door open. Certainly not Crucial's fault or problem! Putting the new chip in was a piece of cake and I'm pleased as punch with my increased memory!! AND Crucial's good service.

                200-pin SODIMM

                DDR 200-pin SODIMM
DDR 200-pin SODIMM: Approximately 2.625 in. by 1.25 in. (66.7 mm by 31.75 mm)
                  DDR2 200-pin SODIMM
                DDR2 200-pin SODIMM: Approximately 2.625 in. by 1.18 in. (66.7 mm by 30 mm)

A small outline dual inline memory module (SODIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). SODIMMs get their name because they are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a SODIMM are not connected.

200-pin SODIMMs are used to provide DDR and DDR2 SDRAM memory for notebook computers. 200-pin SODIMMs are available in PC2700 DDR SDRAM, PC3200 DDR SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-6400 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-5300 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM and DDR2 PC2-3200 SDRAM. To use DDR or DDR2 memory, your system motherboard must have 200-pin SODIMM slots and a DDR- or DDR2-enabled chipset. A DDR or DDR2 SODIMM will not fit into a standard SDRAM SODIMM socket. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool.)

The number of black components on a 200-pin SODIMM can vary, but it always has 100 pins on the front and 100 pins on the back, for a total of 200. 200-pin SODIMMs are approximately 2.625 inches long and 1.25 inches high, though the heights can vary. Like 144-pin SODIMMs, 200-pin SODIMMs have one small notch within the row of pins; however, the notch on the 200-pin SODIMMs is closer to the left side of the module.
