†1 GB = 1 billion bytes. Actual usable capacity may vary.

Micron® Quality - As a brand of Micron, one of the largest NAND manufacturers in the world, Crucial SSDs are designed and developed in-house with the latest technology. This means four things: hundreds of SSD qualification tests, over a thousand hours of prerelease validation testing, 1.5 billion dollars invested in R&D, and more than 30 years of industry expertise.

Adaptive Thermal Protection - Greater thermal management enables the Crucial M500 to work with the host computer to dynamically adjust power consumption based on usage demands, which helps address the cooling challenges of ultra-small, thermally constrained systems.

Hardware Data Encryption - The Crucial M500 SSD offers top-level hardware-based encryption, enabling enhanced data security. Our AES 256-bit hardware encryption engine and TCG Opal 2.0 compliant firmware allow the drive to operate at full speed without the performance loss that's typically found in drives that use software-based encryption technology.

Three Year Limited Warranty - From prerelease validation testing to ensure that our SSDs work with the broadest range of chipsets, motherboards, and operating systems to more than a thousand hours of endurance testing, our drives are tested for reliability from start to finish. We proudly offer a three-year limited warranty and award-winning tech support.

As noted above... this is a "no-brainer" upgrade to extend your system life and reliability. It's simple to install - I got the conversion kit, which clones your HDD image to the new SSD. Makes it very simple and easy... but... you don't get the benefits of fresh install of your OS and Apps, which you may need to achieve the best performance from the SSD. I decided to forgo the benefits to just "get her done." So, the startup and response is likely a wee bit slower than a fresh, clean install. But, it's still quite a bit better than the HDD. Maybe I'll do that later.

I upgraded my HP Pavilion Notebook G7, which is about 3 years old.

Oh yes... you will need to resize your "Recovery" partition to expand it to provide 10% free space to avoid the "red" bar, warning you of too little free space on that partition. But, that's easy enough to do, especially with Easeus Partition Manager (free on CNET downloads).

This SSD will breathe new life into your system, and save you the cost of buying a new system for a few years. That was worth it to me.

Transferred data off of old drive, no problem.
      Installed this drive no problem.
Computer ran like blazes for about two minutes, then went crazy, then stopped.
Took it to professional service, they couldn't retrieve any data, so used my old drive again.
Installed the updated drivers and software from Crucial.
Brought it home and turned it on, it ran great for about twenty seconds then went crazy and then stopped.
I'm now wondering do I take it back to the Tech repair or send it to Crucial, I know that I've wasted weeks on a defective drive that Crucial acknowledged was defective and am still dealing with it.

I am a computer repair novice and have never done a install like this before. But with the help of some research and youtube i was able to install this new hard drive on my Macbook 13" no problem. The hardest part was copying my old hard drive onto my new one.

I could not install the SSD using my Time Machine backup or the original backup CDs that came with my late 2009 Mac. Frustrated! Had to put old drive back in. I have now ordered the clone kit, but don't know if it will work. Irritated that the notes on the clone kit didn't clearly state that it was Mac compatible.

Very pleased with the RAM upgrade from 2GB to 4GB. The Mac is working much better now.

I just would like to get that SSD thing installed before school starts back up.

That SSD does work on other systems and works well. Crucial guaranteed that their SSD would work with my system so I took them up on it. Install and performance has been flawless. Highly recommended.
