Crucial Cloning Disk would not work

For some reason the cloning disk I paid just under $20 for would not work on my system. I made sure what was going to the new SSD from the disk would fit on to the SSD... Just would not let me get past "choose a language".... Brought disk and pc to a repair shop and they informed me the disk was no good, so I lost out on that one and it cost me $125 to get the SSD cloned from other software the repair shop had.... Sooooooo, I suggest you use caution with the Crucial cloning disk, at least in my case, did not work out.

I did a fair amount of preparation on the old drive to be ready for this. I assumed Crucial would give me what I need so I did not check. The desktop installation kit comes with a boot CD that does boot. If you look for files you won't see any. It is a boot CD. The desktop installation kit also comes with one SATA cable but no instructions. I watched the SSD videos at the web site - some multiple times. But there is no information on how to transfer (clone) the image from the old drive to the new drive. I don't want to experiment and damage anything so I have to wait for a time when Crucial support is open AND I can shut down again. Disappointing.

Tried to move win 7 Pro with minium applications to a Crucial 240GB M500 SSD == both on a brand new Dell 8700. Tried Cloning and image transfer with several variations and tried all the suggestions from Crucial support. Wasted 3 weeks. Had to resort with a new install of the operating system.

Instructions supplied with "Easy Desktop Install Kit" are: "For install guide, visit: www.crucial.com/support/ssd - not even a one page quick overview. How-to for physical installation is reasonable on the website. But, there is NOTHING on the site that talks about the Acronis software included. Even searching the site for "Acronis" produces nothing. Put the CD in and nothing shows up when you try to browse its contents - not even a simple README file. I've yet to try the install; I'm waiting for when I could live without my computer for extended time as I try to figure out the install.
