My HP Pavilion dv6 came with a two RAM modules, 2GB and 4GB. I took out both and replaced the 2GB with this Crucial 8GB module.

I turned the laptop on and it's good to go. Thank you Crucial for an awesome product!

For the first time ever I had a stick of RAM go bad. All I had to do is go to the website, print a RMA and mail it back. I got a new stick the next week. I bought it through Amazon, but it was still under the 1 year warranty period. Great service to their product. Thanks.

I'm a software developer and routinely have about 10-12 applications open at a given time. I also routinely monitor the Activity Monitor and see how I'm using a tremendious amount of Ram - so much so that it starts eating disk swap and my computer just seems sluggish. After installing this memory into my Macbook Pro (2011) as was suggested from a blog post about upgrading a Macbook Pro to 16gb - this thing is a dream. I'm also running Lion. It does a nice job of managing memory for the most part and my computer is noticeably faster and more responsive. The memory is not that hard to install if you have the right tools to open the cover. I've always bought Crucial memory and have always had great success.

                      1) I wanted to upgrade my Fujitsu T901 (U.S. model) to 16gb of RAM. The product documentation says it only supports 8gb of RAM, but numerous forum postings said it supports 16gb.

                      2) I spoke to an excellent Crucial Tech Support agent and he recommended a kit with two 8gb sodimms.

                      3) I installed the kit and my machine booted perfectly.

                      4) I typically multi-task 10-15 apps and my system doesn't bog down.

                      5) I plan on using Crucial memory for all of my future RAM needs.

                      204-pin SODIMM

                      204-pin SODIMM
                      DDR3 204-pin SODIMM: Approximately 2.66 in. by 1.18 in. (66 mm by 30 mm)

In short, 204-pin small outline dual inline memory modules (SODIMMs) are the form factor used to provide DDR3 memory modules for notebook computers and other small form factor computing platforms. 204-pin SODIMMs are currently available in PC3-8500 (DDR3 1066MHz) and PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333MHz) speeds.

To use DDR3 memory, your system must have both a 204-pin SODIMM slot and a chipset that supports DDR3 memory. A DDR3 SODIMM will not fit into DDR2 or DDR memory sockets. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool.)

SODIMMs are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs, and the 204-pin SODIMM PCBs are always ~2.6 inches long and are usually around 1.18 inches high (though the heights can vary slightly). They consist of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The number of memory components on a 204-pin SODIMM's printed circuit board (PCB) can vary, but the PCB will always have 102 pins on the front and the back both, for a total of 204 pins. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide the connection between the memory module and the memory socket.
