Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

I am an audio recording engineer and this RAM really helped with the amount of sampling plug-ins I could use for a given project in Logic Pro X. I upgraded to 16gb of RAM and my Mac has been super smooth ever since.

I bought a new Mac Mini and decided to upgrade the RAM on my own rather than paying a small fortune for it to be factory-configured with the 16gb I needed. I was a bit hesitant because I don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, but it really couldn't have been easier. All you have to do is carefully follow the online instructions at this site or at many youtube videos. It took just a minute or two to remove the old RAM and then in with the new. It was recognized by the Mini right away and it's all been smooth sailing.

When installing the first module, my finger slip on the edge of the module, and my nail hit a micro resistor located very close to the edge of the module. The result: the resistor went away, and the module isn't working anymore (gives full of errors when running a memory test). So beware when installing the module and make sure you hold it properly, so that your fingers don't slip...

The second module is working fine. But I had to place a second order to replace the one I have accidentally broken.
