DDR2 PC2-6400

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 2GB
Slots: 1

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.

Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

I had originally ordered a 4GB kit for my iMac and being the wise individual I am knew as long as I ordered the right size modules, the speed wouldn't really matter (800MHz or 667MHz). NOT! For some reason, the iMac is VERY PICKEY as to what it uses. The 800MHz modules would only work 1 at a time, and wouldn't even allow the computer to boot if both were installed. [...] When I received the correct modules I put them in my iMac, started it up, double checked that all 4 GB were accounted for and have never looked back. For this reason I strongly recommend, when you want to upgrade your computer, double check the owners manual for the recommended size AND speed of what your computer will digest. It could save you a lot of time. Speed does make a difference on many computers

In this asus computer you must go into bios for the memory to be recognized. No instruction for this included. Minor detail. Not the memory's fault. I upgraded to increase speed but there is just a tiny increase and was disappointed. Expected more. For me I should of just stuck with 1gb. Crucial is still a high quality product and recommend.

Comments about Crucial 2GB Upgrade for a ASUS Eee PC 1005HA System:

We used the Crucial RAM 2 GB module to double the capacity on my wife's Asus Netbook. After initially installing the RAM, there was no noticeable increase in speed. The documentation gave us a number for customer support and the technician walked me through a couple of possible fixes. Then he suggested that I reboot the computer, which I did. He waited until it was fully operational, and voila! the RAM capacity was doubled, just as it should have been. Best of all, the PC now runs very fast, and my wife's a happy camper. Naturally, I am, too.
