Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 (non-ECC)

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

Terrific. Glad I finally did it. Upgraded the RAM on an old laptop, made it usable again and extended it's lifespan. Crucial website easy to use and navigate to figure out what RAM modules you want/need. Big thanks!!

Been buying Crucial memory since 1999.
Dozens of sticks over the years for personal use, and recommendations to friends and clients.
Whenever possible, in my work environment as an IT Prof, have always requested Crucial memory for desktop upgrades, laptop rebuilds, and even for servers . . . probably thousands of sticks purchased, and in 12 years of dealing with Crucial, not ONE bad stick, DOA or otherwise.

I've never had good luck ordering memory online so when a friend needed memory for a laptop I ordered from crucial because I knew they stood by it. [...] it worked perfectly out of package. Every other time I've ever ordered or in fact bought memory in general at least one stick had to be sent back and replaced...

This product seems to work as promised. It's only a been in a few days, but everything is okay. I can't really tell if my laptop (Dell 1525 - upgraded from 1GB to 2B) is really running faster, but it must be, right?! My one gripe, is that the memory arrived without a single piece of installation instruction. I know that Crucial has a generic "How to Install RAM" video on its website, but I kind of expected some sort of guidance specific to my laptop--information that Crucial certainly has on hand. I had to do an internet search, and finally found a few videos that gave me the confidence to do it myself--and isn't the whole point? One thing I'd like to suggest to other non-techy folks (it was my first time EVER opening up a piece of electronic equipment) is not to be to scared to use a bit of force to install the chips. I did not use enough pressure to properly install the chips and had to do it all over again (pain to screw and unscrew those tiny screws!). The second time was the charm--once you push with the right amount of force, the chip magically "clicks" into place.

I look forward to the improved performance of my laptop. All in all, it was definitely a quick and easy process. Just needed some guidance on how to do it right, specific to my hardware.

Well...I got this product sooner than expected. It was very easy to install and gave a mind blowing increase in speed and performance to my system. I usually open multiple pages at a time which almost froze my system for a couple of seconds. Now, thanks to the upgrade from Crucial, I don't see any kind of problems now.
The product is highly compatible and their recommendation for an upgrade was also appropriate. I would definitely buy products from Crucial again and again...

The memory increased the speed at which my system boots up and I can run ALL of my applications with no issues. If your considering upgrading your memory...I highly recommend buying from Crucial. Best prices and great product!
