Memory:

DDR2 PC2-5300

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 4GB

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

Storage:

SATA

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

My early-2008 MacBook Pro was becoming frustratingly slow (daily experience with the beachball of death), and I was closing in on the decision to buy a new one. But after discussing with a guy at an Apple store I decided to see what would happen if I increased the memory from 2 GB to 4 GB. He recommended getting the memory from Crucial, so I did. I expected some improvement but have been totally blown away (and I don't blow away easily). It is once again a real pleasure to use my Mac! I even installed Mountain Lion, confident that the new memory would be sufficient, and indeed, it has been great. Plus, this was pretty much the easiest memory upgrade to do--took all of about 30 seconds. Very, very happy!!

Ordered laptop memory. Took a week to receive. One of the modules was bad. 'Filed' for RMA and received a couple days later. Had to pay for return shipping. It's been 3 weeks from the original purchase and I still don 't have my merchandise not to mention the additional cost.
You only get one chance to make a first impression. This was not good.
Always heard good things about Crucial but my experience does not reflect that. I won't be back.
