Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

Works exactly as advertised. Best thing for me was the wizard that helped me be sure that I was getting the right memory for my machine. I only wish opening the case had been as easy as installing this memory. :^)

Macbook Pro Late 2011 Upgrade

Comments about Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2) Upgrade for a Apple MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 (15-inch DDR3) Late-2011 System:

Installed this on my Macbook Pro (Late 2011). Even though Apple and the Not Genius bar says it can't support it, it definitely can support it and it works great. I first tried using the Corsair Vengeance which was better rated in terms of performance but I was getting all sorts of Panic and crashes even though the memory tested fine in every aspect. Returned that and ordered the the Crucial RAM and haven't had any issues since. Performance is pretty good, haven't noticed any major issues. I needed 16GB to run my VM's and do photo processing. Would definitely recommend picking this RAM
