I was going to buy a new laptop as it would stop for minutes at a time w/ the orig 256 memory installed. I retained the original plus the 1 g so I have 4 times more than original. Now, when downloading video still will stop and start unless I allow it to fully download and then play. Otherwise it works fine for normal emailing and other chores. I have already recommended this to a friend.

Comments about Crucial 1GB Upgrade for a IBM ThinkPad R51 Series (Type 2888) System:

My old R51 Thinkpad, although reliable was getting slower and slower. It only had 512MB RAM. So instead of buying a new computer, I opted for more memory. I replaced the one 256MB module (the easy one) with a 1GB module and my performance has been amazing. I saved well over $500. I liked the results so much that I upgraded the memory on my daughter's old R40 by adding 256MB bringing it up to 512MB - instant improvement.

My laptop is used to gather legal information and imagery to support litigation. The larger memory lets me do more work in less time and make better use of the battery time limits. I can't always use commercial power in a courtroom setting and the battery time is a constraint. The Crucial memory upgrade saved me from having to buy a replacement laptop.

Delivery was as advertised. Although it could have been delivered earlier but it apparently had a deliver on date and so would not deliver early.
Customer support was very poor. I knew how to install one stick of memeory but did not know where the second stick was located. Had to go to IBM hardware support documentation to find out how to remove the keyboard to find the second location. It seems that your people could / should have had that information on hand. But a friend helped me and all was accomplised according to plan.
Computer is faster and I am happy with the upgrade.
I ordered and installed the upgrade before I left for overseas work.
