Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

My 5 year old 1GB iMac had become ridiculously slow, like dial up slow. After installing the extra memory it seems to be able to handle loading websites and switching between programs much faster.

Added a 1gb stick to my late 2008 iMac. Doubled the memory, now running 2gb's, very noticable difference of speed. Fast shipping and unbeatable price!

Comments about Crucial 1GB Upgrade for a Apple iMac 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (20-inch) System:

My iMac had slowed down considerably. I had to wait a long time to start up, shut down, open applications and files and download web pages. I installed this new memory in about 5 minutes with absolute ease, turned on my iMac and everything is working at greatly increased speeds. I couldn't believe what a difference it made. And it cost about 1/8 of what I would have paid for Apple memory.

Had to get install instructions from Apple, but that was no big deal. Would've had a slightly slicker install, but only slightly.
