Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

I am an Audio Engineer in training, and the RAM that came with my Macbook Pro just wasn't quick enough. I bought the 16GB RAM and now it runs like a dream. Perfect speed and performance for all of the programs I have to run at once. Great product, very easy to install. Can't think of anything bad about it.

I had not used my account in awhile, and I've since moved, so I had to change my billing address. I could not change my billing address without contacting customer service. No other online retailer I've ever dealt with has asked such a thing. Instead, I opened a new account with a new email address. Annoying, but problem solved.

Next, I get a postcard in the mail saying I need to go sign for a package at the local post office. No return address, no usable tracking number (I tried the numbers on the card, multiple ways, no dice). No idea who this package is from. So I go to the post office and stand in line...

What could this package be? Is it a certified mail correspondence from my attorney? Is it an official document from the government? A check for a large sum of money?

I ponder this as I stand in a long line. As I get to the front, a government clerk takes his sweet, sweet time bringing me my envelope.

No, not certified mail or a letter from the Governor. It's RAM. RAM that is so cheap these days, it might as well come free in a Cracker Jack box. Never before have I had to sign for something that cost so little.

So yeah, for the utter lack of convenience and destroying any benefit that online shopping has to offer, I graciously give you folks One Star.

      Enjoy.

My Mac Book Pro Early 2011 came with the standard 4 gb ram. I push four external monitors and a Toshiba Dynadock with my laptop before the upgrade and it was obviously beginning to struggle after 2 years. I store nothing in the hard drive and have only added Office Mac 2011 to the system. After spending $200 to upgrade to 16gb of ram I expected MUCH improvement/speed which I didn't get. I did see some improvement but not what you would expect going from 4 to 16 gb of ram.

I would recommend an 8gb upgrade but certainly not a 16 for the expense.

Upgraded my wife's MacBook Pro 13in (Early-2011) from 4GB to 16GB Memory. Very easy to do with the install kit I ordered. I also bought & used the anti-static wrist strap as a precaution.

My wife had been seeing the "Beach-Ball of Death" almost constantly. Very Frustrating! Now she rarely sees the BBOD, and then only very momentary. Happy Wife! Happy Life!

I was toying with purchasing a new MacBook Pro, but this memory upgrade in my early 2011 Pro was all I needed to have more applications open (including Adobe Creative Suite) for my professional work as an interactive designer.
I went from 2x2 to 2x8 (16 total) and works so much faster. I can't believe I didn't do this from the very start.

I went to the Apple store looking to upgrade my Macbook Pro from 4GB to 8GB and they referred me to Crucial!!!. So, with this assurance in mind, I got the correct recommendation in minutes. However, I was a bit afraid until I gave it a go. However, I decided to go from 4GB to 16GB. I don't regret it. The 4GB expansion costs $200 at the Mac Store but I paid less that $150 for double the memory. Plus, I got a screwdriver, video instructions (on the web) and even bought a protection bracelet. So, I am ready for more memory upgrades and even a hard disk upgrade soon!.

The whole evolution - from opening the package to un screwing the back of the Mac, installing the memory and putting every thing back in place - including rebooting/restarting the machine took about 7 minutes. Great! Still working today with no problems. mac recognizes the 16GB.
