Memory:

DDR2 PC2-5300

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 2GB
Slots: 2

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

SATA

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

I use some memory hogs; Photoshop Elements and Olympus Master software that came with my new SLR camera. I could use 2 Gigs more of Practical RAM but the 2GB kit I purchased was as much RAM as my 17" MacBook Pro could be upgraded to. At least the software isn't locking up like it was before. I was having a time trying to compress RAW files to JPEG and could only do a few at a time before the application would come to a halt and freeze up. This 2GB kit solved that problem!

Popped the ram into my 17" MacBookPro and everything has been functioning A-OK for two weeks now. (Which i was happy about because i was worried about Mac compatibility based on friends' ram issues) I honestly don't recognize an increase in speed, but i have to believe its better since i just doubled my ram from 1G to 2G (both new sticks) which is the max it takes.

It was so easy to find the right match for our "old" MacBook Pro early 2006 on this website. I had a hard time finding the correct memory until I found Crucial. We will definitely order from this company in the future!

exactly as presented in the on-line store, very easy to install, just a straight forward great product that increases your memory and performance. This is from a senior who is as far from a "techy"individual as you can get!

The memory boards fit my MacBook Pro just fine. The memory works like the original memory did speed-wise. I just have twice as much memory as before and that is a benefit to me.

[...] went in super simple. Had to try it a couple of times because I didn't get the "click" the first time...which freaked me out a little, but now that it's in, it's awesome and Snow Leopard is working great!!
