Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

I have an iMac from 2010 that has been slowing down significantly when I use any Adobe Creative Suite applications on my stock 4gb of ram. After talking to an Apple Genius bar employee they told me to shop at Crucial.com. It is beyond easy to find the exact memory you need with they system scan and with amazingly low prices I had to buy more memory.

I got it, installed it, rebooted my iMac and everything has since been running smoothly without any lag. Best place on the web to get ram.

Our iMac had been performing a bit sluggishly lately so I bought these chips. Really appreciated the detailed specs to make certain that they were the right ones. Graphics-heavy programs, such as iPhoto, are running so much faster! Everything seems to be faster, actually. No complaints so far.

I replaced two memory boards and added two to that to increase the speed and memory on my iMac.
These new boards work extremely well and I am very happy with the purchase. Customer Service helped me select the exact boards I would need.
The kid doing the installation on the video is cute, but the boards don't just click in on my computer. The new boards had to be pushed HARD to seat - i.e., I had to brace the top of the monitor with arm and shove with the other.
One thing I recommend on the video - have the kid tell everyone to CHECK CLOSELY how far in the old boards are before removing them. This would have helped me immensely. I put them in three times and tried the computer before I realized I needed to really push them in hard.
It's a bit nerve racking, because you wonder if you are pushing so hard you will hurt the computer, but then it finally seats.
