We have an older Windows XP system that appeared to be on its last leg. Just to make sure that we were not overlooking other options, I went onto the internet to look for memory options. I found a link to Crucial.com, and their software was able to detect the current system memory and make a recommendation for an upgrade based on the specific computer we have. It was easy to place the order and we had the memory upgrade card within just a few days. What appeared to be a machine on its last leg is now one that opens files quickly and the speed of navigating the web is faster than ever. Thanks Crucial.com for meeting our needs! The memory cards were very easy to install and the instructions were easy to follow as well.

Worth a try!

Comes with no instructions. If you don't have the "book" or experience, your in for a few problems. I went from one 256 to two 512 without noticing any improvement in speed.

Comments about Crucial 512MB Upgrade for a Dell Dimension 4400 Series System:

i have an old machine with 512MB of RAM. Crucial's website said my PC could handle a total of 1GIG so i purchased this 512MB. Installed right into the open slot on my computer and had no problem recognizing it on start-up. I can tell an increase in performance and speed. For [$] i can survive with this old machine a bit longer. just what i needed.

Purchased two memory boards and increased my existing memory by a factor of 4. Make sure you seat the board fully into the slot so the outside levers fully lock the board into place.
