Storage:

SATA

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

Graphics Card:

Radeon HD6490M or Radeon HD6750M Graphics

External Connector: 15-hole connector

Graphics Card A circuit board fitted to a computer containing the necessary video memory and other electronics to provide a bitmap display. Adaptors vary in the resolution (number of pixels) and number of colours they can display, and in the refresh rate they support. I use a MBP 15" with Quad Core I7 and often run both ML and Windows 7 using Parallels. With 8GB of RAM it would run but really needed a little extra HP. Ordered this 16 GB upgrade and things are much smoother now. Very easy to install, took 15 mins including watching the video. The videos on the site walk you through everything.

It just works - my early 2011 macbook pro 15 just works like brand new, fast, sleek and I'm very happy how I can work around so many apps open at the same time. This is great, really great. Thanks Crucial.

My only negative comment was that it took me 4x orders before it was finally confirmed to have been shipped. You somehow have problems processing AMEX cards from mates based in Sydney. Nevertheless, it was all good.

                                              Thanks!

I used this product to upgrade my 2 year old Macbook Pro with the standard 4 GB of RAM. My machine would strain itself every time I ran photoshop, fans whirring at full speed, even for the simplest of tasks. Definitely a noticeable difference and very easy to install. The package shipped almost immediately after ordering and I received it sooner than estimated.

I was working on a massive project in Logic 9. When I got my Macbook Pro 2 years ago it was the best computer on the market. But as my project grew and grew, my 4 gigs of RAM was starting to struggle and max out and couldn't carry the workload (Logic crashing, couldn't save my project, weird graphics glitches in the arrange area, etc.) I bought the 16 gig package for a great price and installed it. My project opens about twice as fast now and I've had no problems working with my project, saving it and handling the intense load. It now runs fast and smooth and I'm very pleased!
