Memory:

DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200

Memory Type: DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200, DDR (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 4GB
Slots: 4

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.

Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

After installing the 2GB upgrade in my Gateway desktop, I noticed a incredible speed increase, especially while surfing. My pages load faster and uploads are smoother and files are easier to download. The upgrade was easy to install, even without instructions. I have bookmarked Crucial and will undoubtedly use them again in the future. Thanks guys! Much cheaper than replacing my system.

I have not, in the two days since installation, noticed a performance bump, although the pc did recognize the move from 1Gb to 2Gb. Installation was easy and product was correct(my biggest concern).
