Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

This 8 GB memory upgrade (4 GB x 2) replaced the original 4 GB in an early 2011 MacBook Pro. It was extremely simple to install, particularly after a quick review of Crucial's demonstration video. It was a piece of cake. After installing, simply turning on my MacBook Pro was all it took to place the new memory into use. No hiccups anywhere.

I ordered the twin pack (2x4Gb) to double my MacBook Pro's RAM from 4Gb to 8Gb. Since upgrading, my laptop has been considerably faster, and when I have multiple applications open, the computer doesn't lag. Before upgrading, my laptop would display that annoying beachball whenever I had several applications open. After upgrading, that annoying beachball has gone away!
