Memory:

DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200

Memory Type: DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200, DDR (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 4GB
Slots: 4

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.

Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

Storage:

SATA

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

I needed to install a program that requires a lot more RAM than I currently had. Crucial not only was able to product the necessary memory that I needed, the was able to ship the memory out the same day and I received it two days later. I was given reassurance that if I had any problems to give them a call and they would try to help me with my problem. Not only did I not have any more problems, but I had forgotten how fast my computer was when it was new (and conversely how slow it had become over the few years I have had it). Thanks Crucial. When I need you I will be at your door again.

The online sensor program said I had 4 open slots for RAM, but the unit only had 2, so I may have purchased 2 GB cards if the PC could take it. It is a much better "2nd computer," but I feel like I missed a chance to really upgrade to 4 GB instead of going to Dell first, then Crucial.

I'VE BOUGHT FROM CRUCIAL FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND UPGRADED 5 OR MORE COMPUTERS WITH ABSOLUTE SATISFACTION. CRUCIAL DETECTION SOFTWARE MAKES MEMORY UPGRADES A SNAP. NEVER A MISTAKE UNLESS YOU ATTEMPT TO ORDER WITHOUT USING THEIR DETECTION (WHICH I'VE DONE AND ORDERED WRONG EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT WITHOUT THEIR ASSISTANCE).LET CRUCIAL ADVISE YOUR UPGRADE AND KNOW YOU'RE COVERED. ALSO, KNOW THAT IF YOU MAKE AN ERROR IN YOUR ORDERING, CRUCIAL HAS A PERFECTLY REASONABLE RETURN POLICY. CRUCIAL ROCKS.

the tool that checks my system for what memory to buy was really cool. loaded it, ran it, checked the box to add my selection to the shopping cart after it automatically called up the webpage. memory arrived in a few days, plugged it in and off I went. My computer had gotten so slow from an XP upgrade it would hardly work - now it's fairly quick very little waiting anymore.
