You would think the Perils of Pauline were a walk in the park if I had the time to tell you the story of how I arrived at Crucial. Suffice it to say they had the right product at the right price [...] The memory sticks plugged right in and my Dell recognized every byte of that 2 GB on the first pass. Since there installation my computer has pretty much stayed on 24/7 and I have had no compatibility issues or any strange occurrences. The difference in performance has allowed me to do things in 1/3 the time it took with the old configuration. My (most?)Dell may be persnickety but when you feed it what it wants it gives you all it has. I use VOIP and with the old configuration it was almost impossible to talk and do anything else at the same time. Now I can talk, type and surf the web while IM-ing a friend. Great product at a great value.

Comments about Crucial 1GB Upgrade for a Dell OptiPlex GX260 Series System:

My computer was made way back in 2002 and it only had 128mb of memory installed, so I really needed to upgrade in order to use the latest (and more secure) version of my Firefox browser. I was stuck on version 3.6.22 until last week because more recent versions were slow on my machine and always crashed on me.

After deciding to get more memory from Crucial, I upgraded to the latest Firefox version earlier this week, and after disabling some of the add-ons, it was still very slow but at least manageable. After installing this extra gigabyte, however, it's like I was transported back to 2003 when I inherited this computer from my mother. Pages load almost instantaneously, and other desktop applications also load faster. And I just got done making multiple updates to my website during a single login session, whereas before I had to do one thing, then log back out and shut down the browser, then reload the browser and login back into my account if I wanted to continue updating.

The next time I need a memory upgrade, I'll get a newer computer and max it out with Crucial.

Comments about Crucial 1GB Upgrade for a Dell OptiPlex GX260 Series System:

I always get my upgrades from Crucial. I've ordered from them probably 4 or 5 times for a desktop and 2 laptops. I do the scan, see how much memory I have and how much I can increase it. I always get the correct product.. I've never had a problem installing new memory, except one time I didn't press down hard enough, and had to redo it. This is the only place I would recommend for memory upgrades.

Works great as expected. Also had to add a cheap, used G0773 Low profile NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5200 AGP 4X/8X 128MB video card (with Y-Cable) and everything is much faster on this Dell Optiplex GX260 Standard Desktop running Windows XP on a single monitor.

Crucial delivered my order quickly & accurately.
Maxing out the ram to 2GB on this older computer really helped boost the speed. It was practically useless with only 512MB and it's now running relatively quick.

Installed new memory card in wife's older Dell computor with instruction from an on-site video and everything went well. PC has increased speed and we may consider adding another stick. Product arrived very quickly. We are very pleased with service and the product performance.

I purchased a cheep 1 Gig ram chip and my computer would not even boot up. Some chips will not work with older model computers like the Dell Optiplex 260 which I love. This chip allowed me to get more life out of this machine. No problems with streaming videos, downloading, opening programs et al. Will definately buy another one when I get more money
