Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

    Product works great as described.

    An interesting note:
I have a Quad core G5 PowerMac. The system is only capable of recognizing RAM up to PCS-4200U-444, that being the fastest ram when this machine was introduced. So the installed ram shows up in system profiler as PC2-3200U-288, which is the slowest compatible speed.

All test seem to indicate that the RAM is actually performing at its rated speed, regardless of the label in the system profiler.

Comments about Crucial 4GB kit (2GBx2) Upgrade for a Apple Power Mac G5 (Dual 2.0GHz DDR2) System:

I purchased three two gig pairs to add to my existing one gig pair. For a total of fourteen gig. They are installed on my late model PowerMac G5, dual 2.0. This machine is totally dedicated to my digital audio workstation and these memory pairs have worked flawlessly.
My system drain has decreased, I would guess to say about 25-30%. This has allowed me to record 18 tracks simultaneously without a hitch. I have also been able to add a few more (well... maybe more than a few) plug-ins while mixing.
The only reason I listed a con was, I discovered that my existing one gig cards needed to be installed in the last two slots of the chain. I first, left them where they were (the first banks) and installed these new cards in banks three, four etc. The computer only recognized the newly installed cards (12G). When I changed the smaller pair to the last in the chain, the problem was resolved. Maybe that fact is stated somewhere on the site?
.All in all, a great upgrade to my older machine at a good price.

I can't really find a bad thing about what I ordered. It was cheap (awesome), great condition (no blemishes, scratches or nicks). It was my first time installing memory and they installed without a problem. My computer functions much better with 12GB rather than 512MB. I may be coming back for more. Thanks.
