Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

I recently upgraded the memory of my 2 1/2 year old Intel iMac from 1GB to 3GB which is it's maximum recommended memory. I Followed specific instructions in the little manual that Apple provided with my iMac, because I never changed memory modules myself during 18 years of using various model Macs and PowerMacs. I removed the 2 original 512 memory modules and replaced them with 1 Crucial 1GB memory module and 1 Crucial 2 GB memory. The process turned out to be quite easy! When finished put everything back in place, reconnected the power cord and cables etc. After booting, iMac's System Profiler shows that it's memory is now 3 GB. iMac seems to be faster, more and more reliable performance, also no more spinning beach balls.Prior to ordering the memory modules, I went to Crucial's web site where I had it do a memory check on my iMac. The resulting info provided was what I had installed, recommendations of exactly what memory modules with numbers they have that's compatible for my specific computer to choose from for memory upgrades. The cost of these 1GB and 2GB memory modules were not much! [...] The rest was a breeze to do, and these work perfectly.,If and when need be, I will purchase from Crucial again. When asked, I would also recommend Crucial to all my friends, as a company that one can have confidence in for reliable products and customers service.

The shipment came a few days earlier then expected. Great!!! Installed the memory that night and completed my OS upgrade to Snow Leopard. Been running about 3 weeks and no memory errors. The install easy and the OS recognized the memory strips with no problems.

I used the application that the web site provided to find out what to purchase, which made it easy. When it ordered it, it came much faster than I thought. They had a "How To" video on line that showed how to install the card so I could do it myself. It could not have been easier.
