Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

Having installed the Leopard operating system on my PowerMac G5 with only 1.5gig of memory I was having all sorts of problems. My Mac would not shut down unless I did it manually. Applications were not opening.Part of my task bar was missing, etc. I purchased 4 gig of memory from you [...] at a fraction of the price that i'd seen anywhere else. After a ten minute installation I was up and running. All problems solved. Thanks Crucial. I'll be back, Marion Green

I can't honestly say whether this was the fault of the new memory or just the normal expiration of a 7-year-old G5, but when I blew the dust out and put the new memory in my trusty G5 tower, it booted up (flakily) once, then one of the CPUs died. I had to spend $4000 on a new computer :( Still have the replacement memory - anyone want to buy it cheap? Hardly used![...]

Using this service to pinpoint what was available to expand the memory on my 2004 G5 Power Mac could not have been easier. Once crucial identified the exact chip required for my model, I had it in hand within three business days, installation was a breeze, and performance improved immediately.

I had tried to purchase memory from other online etailers, and just ended up eating shipping costs because their "guaranteed compatibility" part didn't even physically fit. Crucials scanner got exactly the right part, and exactly what I needed to ensure smooth audio and video processing. One of the modules, was bad, but crucial overnighted the replacement. Can't beat the service.

Super easy to install, but that is more the computer's doing.
The whole process about finding the appropriate memory, ordering, and receiving it however was all Crucial, and that was as easy as the install!
Very happy with my decision to try Crucial out.

              Definitely recommending Crucial.
