Storage:

SATA

Storage Drives -- hard drives and solid state drives -- are the permanent memory for the programs and documents on your computer.

Data Transfer Rate is the rate at which data can be sent or received. This is determined by your motherboard. A drive with a higher transfer rate will only run at the rate of the motherboard's transfer rate.

Cache is a type of working memory that allows the drive to perform faster.

RPM is the rotations per minute of a hard drive which effects the speed of data transfer.

Solid State Drives are non-moving memory, so access speed is instant.

PCI Express x16 Graphics

Graphics Card A circuit board fitted to a computer containing the necessary video memory and other electronics to provide a bitmap display. Adaptors vary in the resolution (number of pixels) and number of colours they can display, and in the refresh rate they support. These parameters are also limited by the monitor to which the adaptor is connected.

Send or be directive on how to install memory pieces. Should the new ones be placed were the old ones are or just put them in where there is space?

Comments about Crucial 1GB Upgrade for a Gateway GT5220 System:

When you're not a techy and you don't really know for sure what hardware you've got or need to order, using Crucial was so easy! By using their scanning feature that tells you what you've already got installed and what you need for upgrading, it was easy to choose. The price wasn't bad, [...]and it was easy to install. Great experience.

I have been using Crucial for several years. Being a network admin, I need to get memory for all kinds of machines on my network. I can say that I have never had an issue with a Crucial product. Having the scanning software to fall back on when I have no idea what the motherboard is in the machine is truly a lifesaver. I also use Crucial for personal use and recommend them to other IT people.

I've been procrastinating for years because I knew that more memory would help a lot; I just didn't know what kind, how much, etc. Your site told me what info you needed and then what memroy I needed to order. When I got it (in three days), your downloadable instructions took me through installation without a single hitch! I'm a happy man.
