I was thinking about buying a new computer but my 2005 Dell Inspiron 6000 still works. Friend suggested I upgrade my memory (only had the 512mb min) so I searched for this upgrade kit. [...] offered it for [$] but I got this from [...] for only [$]! Since I've never opened my computer and wasn't really sure of what I was doing, I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ if this didn't work. I can't believe how much faster my computer works now! Especially when running something like McAfee scan...with 512mb it would take several hours and I couldn't even search web while it was running. Now the scan is done in less than an hour and I can still use my computer. This is the same thing Dell was trying to sell me for more $$ and works great! Plus I saved the cost of buying a new computer! I would definitely buy from Crucial again!

On 2 occassions I tried to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 6000 from 1 GB of memory to 2. The first time, after the new memory modules were installed, Windows froze during boot-up. I returned the modules and was sent replacements at Crucial's recommendation. The second set of modules did the same thing.

Either Crucial does not carry compatible memory for the Dell Inspiron 6000, or the modules they do have just don't work. In any event, Crucial was somewhat quick with the replacements and the final refund. I still have not upgraded my Dell laptop.

Product is fine but shipping flat stunk. My order sat for a week not 45 minutes from my house. I'd like to suggest they use a different shipper.

great upgrade, had considered having it done for a long time and every time I went to a tech they indicated it was best to junk my laptop and get a new one because the cost of upgrading memory would be too high.
BS I finally got the guts to order the memory on line- the crucial online tool is great- and the on line demo tutorial is easy to follow. did it myself for under $40 in less than 10 minutes. HA!

Crucial Scanner quickly pointed me to the correct product. Ordering was easy, and the price was right. I had to repeat installation several times because getting the chip properly seated was tricky, but that is due to the configuration of a chip of this type, not Crucial's fault, and in the end everything worked just fine.
