V Good high performance memory, but make sure your motherboard supports it, using online compatibility program as these modules are designed to run at 2.0V, not the normal 1.8V for DDR2.

This RAM is exactly what most users have explained in previous reviews. The RAM is very good, however has a short lifetime and problems can occur.

If you have problems with your computer using vista x64 premium, then the likely issue is the RAM. Good RAM, but expect it to go wrong after 6 months.

Even set at stock these modules are stable enough to handle most FSB changes. With a fast enough setup all you should have to do is manually enter the DRAM settings in your BIOS.

NOTE!!! Some MOBO's require the timing and voltage explicitly set or the modules may burn out!

Comments about Crucial 2GB kit (1GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-8500,:

Unreliable at rated speed of 1066 when 4 x 1GB used in an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard.
2 x 1gb run ok and pass various memory diags at 1066, but 4 x 1gb will not run stable above 950.

Bought these brand [...] After about 1 month, one stick started to generate errors in memtest86 - couldn't RMA at the time as they wanted both sticks returned which would have left me with no working system. Now, today, the other stick has started to fail. The RAM hasn't even been used in an overclocked system.I'm Very disappointed as I have always used Crucial memory without problems in my own systems, and systems I have built for friends. I am now going to RMA them and demand Crucial's regular RAM as replacements.

Crucial Response: It is very important to adjust the voltage on these modules. These modules are made to run at 2.0V.

Comments about Crucial 2GB kit (1GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-8500,:

I have been through quite a lot of ballistix 1GB DDR-2 modules now. I've tried ones rated at different speeds (667, 800, 1066MHz - which all seem to be identical apart from SPD programming). All have failed after some time. I also know two other people who have had these modules fail. I'm not convinced that voltage is the only factor. Sure I had one module fail after a short period of time (about 2 weeks) when running at an excessive voltage of 2.4V (this had an aftermarket cooler attached), but the last pair to fail on me were running at 1.9V. They lasted about 6 months running at 950MHz 4-4-4-12. All the cases I know of these modules failing have involved intel P965 chipsets (my board is an Asus P5B deluxe), but this is probably coincidence, as the only people I know with these RAM modules use that chipset :).

Still, this RAM does run insanely fast for the money - I just wish you could buy it without heatspreaders attached with adhesive so you could easily add a decent cooler. The non-ballistix crucial 1GB modules I have tried are only single-sided :(
