I use product for multi media. Photo editing and display. Video editing and display. Some games.
I also use for my business.

I thought 8 GB of RAM would give a huge boost to performance. Wrong. Too many other variables. Don't waste money on the extra RAM if your system does not need it. Some times it can slow the system down. I think that is what happened here.

Of the 4 2GB matched sticks two failed in 18 months. Why they failed? Could have been a bad mother board. However, I understand that a bad stick of RAM can ruin the MB too. So jury is out on that one.

With the new mother board and processor and the 4 GB left the system seems to be performing better than before. I also up graded my internet connection to 20mbps. All that considered I would buy this product again and use Crucial. My problems with it were not definitively the RAM's fault.

Full disclosure: No reward of any kind was received for this review.

The only thing a can say about Ballistix Tracer is high quality products, ok short lifespan! yes, but who cares! their RMA service is awesome; I just replaced a couple I bought a year ago and I received the replacements within 10 days and I didn't even contact them for following up. Now set to default timming they running like a dream.
They're hot? yes! them just cool them off, you just need to work on your colling sistem.

It's from Crucial - so it's reliable. One thing I wish they would do is show a picture, or even a description including colors, of the different colored RAM sticks, if they make a difference.

Used 8gb in my computer. Started out fine but after 6 months, started having problems so i had them tested out with Memtest86 and Windows Mem Diagnostic and found out the RAMs failed the test. Only 2 sticks out of the original 4 tested ok after 10 months of use.

Also the heatsinks are pretty ugly. Deuglify them please.

Service & Delivery comments:

How about making them in a way that they don't die.

Crucial Response: Please make sure they are running at the suggested voltage.

Installed four of these DIMMs for a total of 8GB into my Intel D975XBX2 MOBO in prep for Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installation. My PC performs outstandingly now using Windows VISTA Ultimate 64-bit, so I can only imagine the kick once I go to Windows 7. As usual, Crucial delivers!

lights on memory may sound fancy but they do show activity when things are working. Nice to know when things are really stuck and not just some application just waiting for resources.
Not only are these fast but really show off your "windowed" case AND have functionality.
Wish I found these first.

I'm installing a Jetway Mini ITX motherboard on my biplane open frame computer case. A standard size motherboard is, well, ugly. The Mini ITX board is limited to 2 gigs and one memory slot, so the Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2 2 Gigabyte DIMM (with lights!) is perfect for it.

I have been using Crucial memory for years, and their products have always been reliable and performed strong and this product is no exception.
This was an upgrade from 2 gb of ram to 4 gb and has made a significant improvement in performance for photo and video editing.
One word of caution, the leds are bright, which I like but it may be overkill for some.

I especially like the LEDs that indicate how much of the memory is in use and the ground effect lighting, not so much to quantify information but more because it makes the inside of my computer case look real nice. I have a Plexiglas that allows me to see the inside of the case.

Very stable. I didn't overclock because I need the utmost in stability, but the very low latency make this a pretty speedy pair of sticks for stock timings. Personally, I love the lights. They really spiced up my internals, even with UV reactive fluid and a plasma light tube. Great price too!
